India's Musical Tribute to Athens Olympics 2004 by L Subramanium, Kavita Krishnamurthy & Gulzar

The Olympics may be happening in Athens, but the spirit of the world's biggest sports event was celebrated in Mumbai last evening. An album by the name of 'Athens' that celebrates the spirit of Olympics scheduled to be held in Greece next month, was released in Mumbai. Internationally acclaimed Violin maestro L Subramaniam along with wife singer Kavita Krishnamurthy and noted lyricist Gulzar came together for this unique album called Athens. The album is marketed and distributed by Music Today. The audio for this album was released in Mumbai 's Grand Intercontinental by Gulzar, L Subramanium , Kavita Krishnamurthy along with daughter Seeta Subramanium and Mr Gurmeet Singh Head Music Today.
Though both Kavita and Gulzar have worked together in many Hindi films, this is the first time Subramaniam and Kavita are coming together for this album. The album has nine songs, including the video song Lau Se Lau Jalti Hai, which features many well known sports and film stars. Initially Dr Subramanium and Kavita and done this song for a function in Delhi to mark the arrival of the Olympics flame, but later it was decided to do a complete album with a video. The video directed by Shashank Dabral features Aamir Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Vivek Oberoi, Bipasha Basu and eminent sportsman like Milkha Singh, India's Olympics hope Anjali Bhagwat, Kapil Dev, Jaspal Rana, Rahul Dravid, Virendra Sehwag ,Irfan Pathan , Anil Kumble among other well known personalities who participated in the Olympics Torch relay. The album culminates with the majestic instrumental track Athens which once again presents the glory of the Olympic Games of 2004.The track composed by L Subramanium has a peppy, sporty feel, yet doesn't fail to convey the feeling of celebration and festive gala. The album on the whole conveys a deep feeling of unity, sportsmanship and universal bonding.'
