When will the Kalyaninagar-Koregaon Park bridge finish?

Section Member Diaries

What;s the latest estimate on this bridge becoming completely functional?  Do we have to wait for the 4-laning of N. Main Road to be done before this happens?

Please make more public toilets >

Thank you Mr. Kalmadi (3.00 / 2) (#8)
by prodrocks on Mon Aug 23, 2004 at 11:19:03 PM EST

Thank you Mr. Kalmadi for inaugurating the Kalyaninagar bridge.  There was frantic activity to get the bridge ready before the event.  Now everything has come to a standstill.  In fact, there was more damage to the access road from the Koregaon park side because of the all the "shamiana" that was put up for the function.

In the last 3 weeks, not one bit of construction activity! Not a single tile placed on the footpath.  I think the contractor has been paid the money since the bridge is officially done.

Someone please post some dates for the actual completion.  Or tell me where to file a PIL or an inquiry under the Right to Information Act.

Some more information (3.00 / 2) (#3)
by prodrocks on Wed Jun 09, 2004 at 11:34:08 PM EST

I was able to find a few more relevant links:

http://www.msrdc.org/projects/irdp_pune.html#

http://www.msrdc.org/projects/pune_project_popup.htm

A lot of the information is outdated.  But gives you an idea where things are heading. Since you cannot navigate to these links directly from www.msdrc.org might mean that these are dead pages never to be updated.

I read this article in Indian Express that says that not even 25% of the project money has been spent so far.

AgaKhan Bridge nears completion (none / 0) (#9)
by prodrocks on Sun Oct 03, 2004 at 10:38:17 PM EST

2 more months!  Starting when, who knows?

http://cities.expressindia.com/fullstory.php?newsid=101729

Hopefully, all of us can use this great road from Jan 2005.  What happens at the 3 intersections along this road, god only knows.  The one at the N Main road and the bridge road is going to be extremely chaotic.  I loved the reference to "buffalo beauty pageant".

Cheers.

Talking of Buffaloes (5.00 / 1) (#10)

The front of Bishop's School in Kalyaninagar has become a buffalo pond thanks to the rains and PMC.

If the the buffalos block N.Main Rd then the Ramewadi Octroi post it is the huge trucks. Once in a while a few traffic constables pay a visit.

Road from the bridge to Ghorpadi crossing (none / 0) (#7)
by prodrocks on Thu Jul 29, 2004 at 05:10:06 AM EST

Is there any chance that the road from the bridge to Ghorpadi railway crossing will be improved once the bridge is completely done?  The road comes under the PCB and passes thru ASI.  Does the PCB have a website?  The road is quite narrow and has a huge pothole.  Maybe PCB will wait till a few accidents take place before taking some action.

Brigde inauguration (none / 0) (#5)
by prodrocks on Thu Jul 29, 2004 at 01:03:23 AM EST

If the frontpage story is to be believed, the bridge will get an official opening this Saturday, July 31, 2004.  Looking at the shabby state of the connecting roads from both ends of the bridge, will the work finish in the next two days before the MP arrives?

Yes, currently the situation is a little shabby around the bridge, but the inauguration will take place in time in 2 days.

Kalyaninagar bridge (none / 0) (#4)
by prodrocks on Mon Jul 05, 2004 at 11:14:36 PM EST

Looks like the end is near.  Light poles are in place.  Road surfacing work has started (very shabby work ... you have to see it to believe it).  I dont know what the plan is for the intesection of this bridge (name, anyone?) and N. Main road.   Its a mess during the early morning hours.  There a big herd of buffaloes that goes for a bath around 9:15 AM and then returns after a bath at around 10 AM.

BTW, what's the name of this road that will now connect N. Main Rd to Nagar Road?  Looking at this map, the road is called D.P. Linking road.

Lets hope the road is finished by the end of this year.

Good Question (none / 0) (#1)

Good question. I would like to know the same. When?

Kalyaninagar bridge (none / 0) (#2)
by prodrocks on Wed Jun 09, 2004 at 11:21:17 PM EST

The wierd thing is that this bridge is not even mentioned in the Pune IRDP unless I cannot find the right link.  Is there any place on the web that mentions the plan for this bridge?  The best I could find was about ROBs at:

http://www.msrdc.org/projects/29_rob.html

This link even mentions an ROB over the Ghorpudi crossing.  Now if that happens and B.T. Kawde road is widened, then we have a clear passage from Nagar Road to Sholapur road.  I know about the Magarpatta road.  But even there a new ROB at Mundhawa is getting built.

I wish someone could provide a link for a 5-year future plan for Pune roads.
