"We are helping the authorities in building a stadium in Delhi specifically for rugby during the 2010 Commonwealth Games," Indian Rugby Football Union (IRFU) president Pradeep Khanna said on Saturday. Khanna also said confidently that IRFU, which doesn’t have any sponsors till now, would be able to rope in a few very soon.

Mr. Khanna also said that the game has been formally inducted for the first time by the Indian army. "The Indian army has inducted rugby in its ranks. Every unit of the army will have to induct it from July 1," he said.

Khanna also announced the first-ever rugby test match on Indian soil against Sri Lanka on June 22 in Mumbai. Significantly four armymen have found a place in the national squad to take on Lanka in the 27-strong probables list and the training camp for them began on May 28 at the Armed Corps Centre, Ahmednagar.
